the choir's profile in the Czech-Choirs.org catalogue >>>

The women choir of Iuventus Paedagogica was originally fouded in 1967 as a choir of musical studies students of Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University of Prague. In these days the members of the choir are both graduates of Pedagogical Faculty and graduates of some other Prague colleges.

Since the time of its foundation the choir gave more than 700 concerts in the Czech Republic and in 17 European countries. It recorded in domestic and foreign radio stations and TV studios and produced several records and CDs. The choir is a tenfold laureate of significant international competitions (Arezzo, Arnhem, Cantonigros, Cork, Llangollen, Middlesbrough, Neerpelt, Tours etc.) where it also gained other rewards and honourable mentions. The choir took part in many domestic and foreign festivals and it maintains lasting contacts with academical choirs around the whole Europe.

The repertoir of the choir is most of all concentrated on contemporary Czech choral production (a lot of compositions were dedicated to the choir) but it contains both domestic and foreign compositions of all periods, styles and genres.

The founder A.P. Jiří Kolář, M. Pd. was a conductor of the choir till 1999. Mrs. Ivana Štíbrová, M. Pd. is its contemporary conductor. Since 1974 Mrs. Ivana Štíbrová, M. Pd. works as a special assistant in the musical department of Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. Not only did she use to act as a singer in the choir but she has been a voice advisor and a second conductor there as well. As a conductor of a Mixed-voice choir of Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University from 1997 to 1999 she awarded the Laureate Prizes at international choral competitions in Prague and in Pardubice.
